Embedded Systems and Microcontroller Development
For tiny, cheap tasks...
we favor Atmel AVR8 microcontrollers. They're incredibly cheap and require almost no external components. They have plenty of IO available and a useful set of integrated peripherals.
We can handle all stages of an AVR8 development project, including:
- rapid prototyping
- hardware design
- firmware development
- small production runs
For cheap, high-powered applications...
we like NXP's LPC series of microcontrollers. They offer 32-bit performance and generous amounts of on-board memory for applications that require a bit more grunt. They're also surprisingly cheap.
For LPC projects, we provide:
- hardware design
- firmware development
- small production runs
For high-performance Linux systems...
we prefer the Gumstix Connex and Verdex motherboards. They offer 600MHz clock rates, 128MB of RAM and gigabytes of disk storage in a package the size of a stick of gum. You can leverage a huge library of free software to get your application finished faster. They don't use much battery power and on top of all of that, they're cheap.
If you need serious processing power in your embedded application, these are the boards you want to work with.
We can provide:
- software development
- Linux kernel development, including device drivers
- peripheral hardware design
- performance and power optimization
Licensing options
In some cases, we may be able to perform application development at a reduced price in exchange for a per-unit license fee or retention of rights. Contact us for more details.
